Wayward Outpost Class Tier List
S through situational rankings with unlock cost, Day 40 gates, and logistics reasoning.
How to read this list
This page ranks player classes for Wayward Outpost on Roblox. Criteria match the Tier List Hub: logistics value, combat effectiveness, Reputation unlock cost, and Day 40 dependency. Reputation never decreases, so every unlock is permanent—but time-to-online still decides what you should queue first. For kit overviews see the Classes Hub; for new-account order try Beginner Classes; for radioman/engineer/support theory see Support Roles; for the endgame boat kit see Marine.
Infected counters belong on the Infected Tier List. Map hubs are summarized on the Links Hub.
S-tier — core meta for most servers
Marine
Unlock: about 1,000 Reputation and a server on Day 40+. Spawns on the GRS Gainsboro with dinghy boats, a separate requisition machine, infinite ammo culture on the dock, and fast sea access toward Irueno and coastal routes.
Why S: Best overall kit for organized lobbies. M91A with under-barrel grenade utility deletes Bloater parasites safely and punches groups through cover; VP70 finishes infected cleanly; LAW answers Callouses/Brutes; C-cell stockpiles fuel IFAKs and more LAWs. Boats are the fastest reliable vehicle fantasy on Eleske. One coordinated Marine cell can move people and craftables while Bravo stays supplied.
Play tip: Agree with other Marines to bank C-cells on Gainsboro instead of wasting every cell on solo toys. Full route notes live on the Marine guide.
Engineer
Why S: Bases die without wrench work. Power outages on Bravo, Alpha Power Station, and Irueno Sub-Station demand Engineers; toolkit upgrades and material builds print Reputation while keeping fences alive. Shotgun presence (M1014 fantasy) plus mines covers close defense. During blizzards and radio interference, a repaired grid is the difference between a stabilized outpost and a wipe.
Play tip: Pair with Radioman so drops refill the materials you spend on walls. Deep dive on Support Roles.
Medic
Why S: Only kit with the health viral that infinitely tops you (E) and allies (click). Essential for Hellmouth/Hive length expeditions and any squad that expects Incisor knockdowns. Decent starter guns, perfect Reputation farm via heals, and the safest solo sustain on a hostile island.
Play tip: New players should main Medic first—see Beginner Classes—then layer Radioman or Engineer alts on the same account’s Reputation pool.
Radioman
Why S: Supply backbone. Timed radio codes call materials and armaments, paying chunky Reputation per successful drop while restocking Bravo and field teams. During outages and storms, radiomen keep contact when everyone else is blind. Logistics wins Wayward Outpost; Radioman is logistics.
Play tip: Duo with Support to triple practical ammo uptime on long cave pushes. Details on Support Roles.
A-tier — specialists that win the right mission
Grenadier
Explosive swarm clear and structure pressure. Shares big launcher energy with Marine’s M91A fantasy for deleting clumps and worms. Slightly less “server glue” than S-tier supports, but devastating when the objective is open-field horde control.
Support
Ammo box class that turns Radioman drops into sustained fire superiority. Weak if you treat it as a lone wolf DPS kit; S-tier adjacent in coordinated five-stacks heading to Hive or Hellmouth.
CBRN
Mandatory mindset for green mist around the Hive. Crafted CBRN gear is the filter between scouting the Nest and dying to infection concentration. Ranked A because not every session is a Nest dive—but when it is, CBRN players carry.
Delta
Elite fork / special-weapons access fantasy for players who know pickup locations. High skill ceiling, strong on Irueno PD and Airfield loot routes, less forgiving for brand-new accounts.
Anti-Tank
Purpose-built for Callouses/Brutes. When Gustav/LAW/NATIC answers are scarce, an AT-focused loadout saves magazines and Medic viral charges. Situationally S on brute-heavy nights; A overall because Commons still dominate raw spawn volume.
Marksman
Overwatch, headtap discipline, motion tracker fantasy on the right kits. Excellent for covering truck routes and Alpha approaches. Drops when the fight collapses into shotgun interiors or when the lobby lacks Engineers behind them.
B-tier — honest workhorses
Infantry
Default National Guard fantasy. Learns the map, grabs M60/M249 style emplacements when allowed, and can run M67 tricks or LAW pickups against Callouses. Outclassed later by Marine firepower but perfect Reputation and map school—hence a beginner staple on Beginner Classes.
Cleaner
Area denial and cleanup niche. Strong when objectives involve clearing interiors and sticky infected residue; less central than Medic/Engineer for base uptime.
Automatic Rifleman
Suppressive volume and LMG fantasy. Great on defense lines and convoy escorts; hungry for Support ammo and weaker when logistics are already failing.
C / situational
Crashed Pilot
Day 40 C-130 crash narrative unlock. Fun challenge kit with unique fantasy and scavenged tools, but not the backbone of a serious logistics stack. Play it for variety after you can already hold Bravo with S-tier roles.
Suggested unlock order
- Medic or Infantry — learn roads, infected tells, and Reputation sources.
- Engineer — become useful during every power outage.
- Radioman (~300 Reputation class of investment) — fund the server.
- Support / Grenadier / Marksman — specialize for your friend group’s gaps.
- Marine at 1k + Day 40 — boats, Gainsboro requisition, M91A/LAW endgame.
Squad composition cheat sheet
- Public lobby stabilizers: Medic, Engineer, Radioman, one Infantry/AR.
- Irueno C-cell run: Marine lead, Medic, Support, Engineer on standby for outages.
- Hive / Nest: CBRN-ready bodies, Medic spam, Support ammo, AT answer for Brutes.
- Defense night: Engineer walls, Automatic Rifleman lanes, Radioman drops, Marksman towers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Eleske operations.
What are the S-tier classes?
Marine, Engineer, Medic, and Radioman. Together they cover boats/Gainsboro logistics, repairs, healing, and airdrops—the core meta on most servers.
How do I unlock Marine?
Earn about 1,000 Reputation (it never decreases) and join a server that has reached Day 40 or later so Gainsboro Marines are in play.
Is Infantry still worth playing?
Yes as a B-tier learner and flexible rifleman. It teaches Eleske routes and can still run explosives against Callouses, but Marine outscales it late.
Where should new players start?
Medic, Infantry, and Engineer—see the Beginner Classes guide—then Radioman for logistics before grinding Marine.
Why is Crashed Pilot so low?
It is a Day 40 challenge fantasy, not a logistics pillar. Fun after you can already stabilize Bravo with S-tier roles.
